This General Equipment Hire Agreement template set out the terms and conditions of hire where the Owner of equipment hires out tools or equipment to a customer who is a consumer (B2C). Suitable for a wide range or tools and machinery. For use where both the Owner and Hirer are in the UK.

This Equipment Hire Agreement template set out the terms and conditions of hire where the Owner hires out equipment, without an operator, to a Hirer. This is a general agreement and can be used for many types of machinery including:

  • specialist tools
  • plant machinery
  • DIY
  • home improvement and gardening machinery.

The terms specify that the Owner is not required to provide training and that the Hirer is responsible for safe and correct use of the equipment. The period of rental can be either for a fixed period or open-ended (with a specified notice period). The equipment may not be used outside the UK and can only be used by the Hirer except if the Owner agrees otherwise. The terms and conditions allow for a deposit to be paid by the Hirer and for either the Hirer to deliver and collect the equipment, or for the Owner to deliver in collect.

An Quotation and Acceptance section is included at the end of the terms and conditions template. The Quotation section lets you set out details of the the Hirer's rental (including specifics of the equipment being hired, price, period of rental) which you can give the Hirer along with your standard terms and conditions. A legally binding rental contract is made once the Acceptance section is signed by the Hirer and Owner.
