This SAP2 form, issued by HM Inland Revenue & Customs, is used by the employer to record details of an employee's Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP) during Statutory Adoption Leave. Employers are required to keep statutory adoption pay records for at least 3 years after the end of the tax year to which they relate.
The SAP2 form helps employers to meet their legal obligations of recording: SAP payment dates and amounts, the start of the payment period, any weeks within the 26 week period when SAP wasn't paid and reasons why.
