This Paternity Leave Policy template describes the rights of male employees to take paternity leave on the birth or adoption of a child. Eligible employees can choose to take either one week or two consecutive weeks' ordinary paternity leave, during which most employees are entitled to Ordinary Statutory Paternity Pay (OSPP). In addition, fathers of children due to be born or matched for adoption on or after 3 April 2011 may be eligible to take up to 26 weeks' additional paternity leave. This is on top of their entitlement to two weeks' ordinary paternity leave. Employees may be eligible for Additional Statutory Paternity Pay (ASPP) during the time their partner would have been receiving Maternity Allowance, Statutory Maternity or Statutory Adoption Pay.
