Research recently reported by The Times has shown that grandparents are losing contact with their grandchildren following separation or divorce of the children's parents.
Two statistics stand out. It was found that 42% of grandparents never see their grandchildren again following a split. An even bigger proportion, 67%, are prevented from regular contact or family outings - even though this might have happened frequently in the past.
Sadly grandparents have no rights to maintain contact with their grandchildren. If the contact is denied their only recourse is the expense and stress of applying to the courts for permission to see their grandchildren. |
