Nanette Bowen, a hospital information manager with the Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, has won £150,000 in compensation from the Carmarthenshire NHS Trust. Mrs Bowen, who is 55, claimed she was bullied at work leading to panic attacks and stress that left her unfit for work. According to Unison, who represented Mrs Bowen, she had worked at the hospital for 28 years rising from the position of porter to information manager. A new boss in 2000 was then said to behave aggressively towards her, inflict sexual harassment on her and remove her powers over other staff and her normal duties.
The stress became so bad for Mrs Bowen she was apparently rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack. As the main breadwinner in her home the impact of being unable to work was significant. The Swansea County Court held the Trust liable last year and the parties have now settled on the compensation figure. |
