Nanny Agreement
This employment
contract is suitable where a nanny has been employed by a family to
look after the children and meets the requirements of UK employment
legislation. It is suitable for permanent, fixed-term or temporary employment
of a nanny.

Unlike an au pair,
a nanny usually has childcare qualifications and can be given sole care
of young children. Nannies can be employed on either a live-in or live-out
basis. The national minimum wage applies to every nanny in the UK apart
from those who live with the family in the family household.
If a nanny is required
to work outside the UK for more than one month then he/she must be given
the particulars of his/her employment before departure or within two
months of the start of employment, whichever is sooner.
This contract is suitable for use in England,
Wales and Scotland and covers:
- accommodation
- benefits
- duties
- expenses
- holiday entitlement
- probationary period
- rates of pay
- sickness
- statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures
- termination of employment
- working times.
Some terms and conditions
of employment are subject to statutory requirements e.g. working hours,
holidays and notice of termination of employment. We provide extra notes

Anyone who employs
a nanny in the UK and pays him/her more than £97 per week (tax year
2006/2007) must register with the Inland Revenue as an employer and
pay National Insurance contributions and PAYE. Full details of employers'

Revenue.
Employers should
ensure that their home insurance provides cover for having a domestic
worker in the home.
